Saying you don't understand

 Ask for clarification:


Sometimes you don't understand the instructions or other communication you are given. Don't pretend to understand. Ask a person to repeat his/her instructions. Here are some ways to ask for clarification.


1. Pardon me?

2. Could you repeat that, please?

3. I'm sorry, I didn't hear you.

4. Would you mind saying that again?

5. What did you say to do next? (informal).
